Fatigue. Haziness. Zombie-like walk. Yes. Ann and I are hungover. Shameful, but true. Is the end near? Probably not, but if there is any consolation prize for a hangover, it is yummy breakfast and a mimosa. And what better place to get just that on a Saturday afternoon than Daily Eats? We’re glad they stayed open despite a down computer system. I’m not sure what would have become of us if we hadn’t had this chance to shovel delicious food into our stomachs like it is going out of style. And AWESOME food at that!
Revenge is best served cold and over blueberries, so we took to teaching our bodies a lesson for reacting so disapprovingly to our excesses and ordered two delicious blueberry mimosas. No worries, they have your standard, plus a variety of fruit juice mixtures that will make your mouth water: cranberry apple mimosa. This delightful afternoon cocktail was light and refreshing, the perfect match for a breezy, 80-degree afternoon in Tampa.
It’s also a great day for a bike ride, and an excellent excuse to finally take that blowup doll you’ve been dating on a proper date (we’re actually not quite sure what is going on here, but hey, its Saturday afternoon, so we’ll allow it).
When it came to the food, we rationalized that nothing is better for a hangover than a Mexican inspired dish, so we each went with those yummy Hispanic flavors. I ordered the Mexican omelet, packed with diced tomatoes, jalapeno jack cheese, and three bean vegetable chili, and generously topped with guacamole and chipotle sour cream. I’ll let you have a moment to pick your jaw up off the floor. This beast of an omelet shared the stage with French fries (yep, I’m hungover).
Ann got the equally alluring Tijuana breakfast bowl: scrambled eggs, three bean vegetable chili, shredded pepper jack and guacamole (all served over tater tots).
The food was everything you’d expect, but even better. This combination is so wonderful, the fluffy eggs with the spicy chili and creamy guacamole. The flavors are wonderful and the food is so decadent, but still approachable in the little diner setting. I loved every bite, and yes, I cleaned my plate. Honestly, you have to get here and taste this for yourself. I could have a bowl of that chili every day.
Next time you’re hungover, in need of a wonderful breakfast treat (they have Captain Crunch french toast), or even an awesome lunch or dinner (their shredder bowls look awesome) come to Daily Eats and fill your tummies with their crazy good food!
